The Honorable Terry Cummings was elected by the Citizens of Buda in November 2019 and sworn-in to office in December 2019 as Councilmember Single Member District C representative.
She has lived in Buda since 2012, after more than 20 years on the Gulf Coast where she grew tired of hurricane evacuations. She works as a Registered Nurse Case Manager for Ascensio Seton Hays hospital and holds a Masters's Degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Houston. She is also a graduate of the Buda Citizen's Academy.
Prior to Ms. Cummings election to the Buda City Council, she served as the Vice-Chair of the Buda Historic Preservation Commission. She currently serves on the Audit Committee and the Nominations Committee, which reviews and recommends nominees for Buda's boards and commissions.
The mother of two adult children, Scott, an endodontist in College Station, and Kara, a dance/drill team teacher at a northwest Harris County high school, and GiGi to two adorable grandchildren, Ms. Cummings loves spending time at the beach house in Port Aransas with her partner, Rick Austin, and her family.
Ms. Cummings ran for City Council to advocate for keeping the best of small-town Buda, and help navigate the fast-moving changes we will see in the years to come. She is an advocate for public health, inclusivity, and civil rights.
